Music Spotlight: PARTYNEXTDOOR - "P3"

PARTYNEXTDOOR - "P3"

Now I may be biased, but the 905 has been producing a lot of good things this year (I mean, Raptors 905, come on), and now the man himself, PartyNextDoor (Jahron Brathwaite) has just dropped his sophomore album, P3, under the OVO Sound label.

I don’t know about you, but this is THE album I’ve been waiting for. It’s been 2 years since P2, and I’m tired of being teased by his features with other artists. While it’s been a minute since we had a full PartyNextDoor album, the man has been busy; he actually had a huge hand in writing Rihanna’s hit “Work”, is featured on Drake’s new album “Views” and had been making headlines with his choice of ladies and beef with a certain NBA champion (but I won’t get into that), that may or may not have been inspiration for some of these new tracks.

This album has all the feels and is perfectly curated for late night listening, and even picks up on the slight Caribbean vibe of Drake’s “Views”. This album has something for everyone; strong, genuine lyrics, slow jams, higher-tempo beats, and the deep, intimate vibe that day one Party fans are accustomed to.

This new album proves that PartyNextDoor has really come in to his own and that he’s not just a Drake protégé. There is so much to his abilities as an artist, producer and writer that we’re just scratching the surface of what this guy can really do.

Check out the opening track of the album that samples, “No Diggity”, called High Hopes.
