Music Spotlight: Lil Uzi Vert - "Right Now"

It’s a big year for up and coming rappers from Philly, but for me, the only one I’m interested in is the 21 year old, North Philly native, Lil Uzi Vert. XXL Magazine featured him on their cover for their 2016 Freshman Class. He’s helping to lead this new wave of rap music with his eclectic sound which he has credited Marilyn Manson as one of his influencers. He adds a bit of a rock edge to his music that has fans hyped for his crazy high level of energy.

You are most likely to have heard him featured on tracks with Young Thug or Travi$ Scott, but where he really shows off his unique sound and vibe is throughout his mixtape Luv Is Rage. I am not ashamed to admit I bump this tape every single day whether it’s at work (with headphones on, as the lyrics are NSFW), the gym, pre-gaming for the bar or before bed. After listening to it yourself, you’ll want to as well.

He’s not your stereotypical rapper/hip hop artist, he’s not all about the lyrics, but I assure you, Lil Uzi Vert is an emerging force in the industry and he’s truly one to keep your eye on. You’ll be hooked on his energy after one listen.

This is the very first Lil Uzi song I ever heard, and my personal favourite. It’s tad more mellow and an easy introduction into his sound. Here is "Right Now" from his mixtape Luv is Rage.
